Does anyone know if Sync 4 is going to be a software update or all new hardware?

Pretty sure it’s new hardware that includes wireless carplay/android auto

I am waiting for sync 5, because only pleabs would go from 3 to 4.

Sync 2 sounded like @$$ and nothing you could do would make it sound any better. Main reason I held out for Gen2

Are you usually able to DIY upgrade Sync versions? Wondering if we could install Sync 4 in our gen 2s, whenever it gets released.
