The MF communists are pushing to CLOSE it or MAKE IT A PERMIT HIKE, like the Subway or 1/2Dome in Yosemite. All this because I think 13 people have fallen to their Death since 2000. It’s called Natural F%><king Selection!! You Got to Know Your Limitations!! I don’t need “THE MAN” telling me where and when I can F#<~KING HIKE!!
DO IT SOON, the END IS NEAR...I’ve done it 10x, last time with my son. It’s one of the Most Amazing Hikes you can do w/o technical gear.

I'm heading out there end of the month actually, trying to help my parents get out more see cool places. What trails do you recommend doing out there? Truck is basically stock with some extra skids and lights.

Sweet! Been on my list. More since my daughter road tripped my old 15 SCREW to Zion a few months ago. Epic place I need to visit.

You won’t regret it!! I’ve been there 100’s of times. EVERY time I drive in through Springdale I AM IN AWE :O of the Incredible Beauty of Zion. If do nothing but be a “Drive By Tourist” you will stop every 50 Yards for a picture!! Contact me if you need any help planing a trip there. I agree with you mostly, but I think they want to do that because there are way too many people in Zion now. Close proximity to Vegas and tour buses full of people. Tough to enjoy nature when the trails are packed with people like a Disney park. Angels landing is awesome though - nice pics.

Sadly you are correct about the visitation Zion is the most Visited of Utah’s Big 5. I Did Angels Landing a few years ago on Nov with crampons. I saw about 15 people on the trail. This past Dec I was at the Trail-Head at 0700 and almost didn’t get parking I think some of that was the “China Effect” folks just wanting to get the F;:k out of the house.
The news here though had a “special” on the last death. “How can these Tragic Deaths be prevented?” Ummm, know your limitations?? Of course you had some College Professors who never hiked a day in their life “Solving the Problem” I’m old and F€><KED UP from 28 surgeries, titanium every where. If I fall off the chains or the summit, rejoice, I went with a smile
Looking for Solitude? Try Capital Reef, harder to get to but fantastic off-roading and hiking. Fall is the best time there. The color change against the Sandstone is Breathtaking
Set up Base Camp in Kanab or Escalante. Just going to those two places you can off-road and hike until you die and never go to the same place twice!!
I’ll dig up some old pics of those areas, after you see them, you will be loading up the Raptor!

Do you know if i can do UTVing there? I know that some national parks ban them due to noise concern affecting the wildlife.

Thanks for the tips, great pics. Been to Canyonland for a few days and that was great - pretty desolate as well. Capital Reef is high on my list.

UT is ATV Nation In the Park No-Street Legal only. There are however several sweet trails outside the NP that you can ride. Several areas I 4x4 in NV require street legal it’s mostly BLM land and the Rangers will ticket you
