Anyone know how tight to crank up the spare under the bed? Does the winch click when it's tight. I cranked it pretty hard but don't want to break it. I also don't want my spare falling out. Thank you in advance.

    Do like the Germans: gutentight.

I'm not sure on the Raptor but most trucks with that style spare tire mount are on a worm drive for the spare assembly. The worm drive works makes so the drive cant be pulled or wiggled down.

Definitely did it the German way. Just wasn't sure what to expect. Thanks for the feedback.

Is the hook spring loaded? I usually compress the spring about 50%. Keeps the tire snug.

    German spec is gud

Yes, there is a spring. I'll check that. Thank you.

I just tighten it until I can’t move the spare then give it a little bump. Too tight tends to put flat spots from the frame on it, but German torque is good too.

This. Don't overthink it. Tighten it to where it won't move, and off ya go.

I had my spare let go on my Sierra years ago. Cable rusted. Lucky I was just putting around the neighbourhood.

    Lube your wires everyone.
