Can explain why/how later but anyone know where this metal clip? Goes inside of the inner cv joint?

Driver side axles, diff side joint. It is bent uniformly to match the radius of the ball bearings. I do see a little groove on the lip of the bearing cage but don’t think that’s where it goes

Solved.

I have found more and more, that if it is overly diffuse to find documentation or the answer to what something is, it’s likely because it’s wrong. So in the case, the bent up smaller metal ring is actually supposed to be nice and straight and large enough to be snap into the joint case, holding the bearing assembly from pulls out. Hence why mine did while removing the lca.

So there you go add this to a bored afternoon. Pull your cv boots off and check those snap rings.
