I love the eerie sound of a diesel at a steady idle...especially with the whistle of the turbo... Gawd I wish the Raptor was a small 4-5 litre diesel sometimes!

Ford would never build such an engine and if they did I'm sure they'd drop it in the F-150 as soon as it was available....oh wait:

Here is a test of the new Range Rover with the 4.4L V8 diesel that is produced at Ford's engine plant in Chihuahua, Mexico (along side the 6.7).

    Range Rover Vogue diesel

    Just to sum up:
That Range Rover weighs about 6200 lbs, which is in the ballpark of the F150. The Range Rover is constantly in 4x4, so that can't be helping fuel economy. Bearing these things in mind, the Range Rover 4.4 TDV8 gets

36 mpg highway (Supposed to average about 30)
    0-60 in 7.8
    Power: 310 HP
    Torque: 520 lb-ft

I would think all these numbers would be very similar if the engine were in the F-150 or Expedition.

So who here feels screwed that Ford has no plans at the moment to offer this engine in the US? In the meantime though, that EcoBoost is still pretty sweet.

BTW, that was originally posted by Scorpion67 on http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/.

aha! I knew I recognized that parking lot from some hazy memory.

So basically you're doing drunken burnouts (probably right after last call) about 1/4 mile from the EPPD Westside Regional Command Center. ....that's pretty "brilliant"..... At least the ride in the back of the squad car would've been short. :D
