My truck was broken into the other night. The thief broke both of my drivers side windows and climbed into the cab and took some things.

Does anyone know if there is something like a mercury switch or radio sensor which could be added to the existing alarm system so that it would trigger if a window was broken, or someone was inside the truck while the alarm was on?

That sucks man! People need to quit leaving stuff in the cab of their trucks though. Out of site, out of mind. Better off getting a underseat storage or a bed cover.

The assumption that I left stuff visible in the cab isn't correct. They ended up stealing my sun glasses, a knife, an old GoPro, and an aluminum water bottle. All of which were hidden out of sight in the center console. The bed cover and tailgate remained untouched, though there wasn't anything in the bed anyway.

    Thanks Noah!

Interesting approach... this would have saved me some time cleaning up the broken window at the very least :)

Yeah, my bad. Usually there's something in obvious view for these knobs to smash and grab.

sucks...they did that to my wife's Explorer Sport a few years ago. Makes you feel violated and I almost didn't want the car any more.

Ford's add-on security module has a impact sensor. Depending on how it's broken and the sensitivity, a broken side window may not trigger it though. I'd think it would still go off as soon as they got in the truck though. Side benefit is you can get better remote start options with it. Long range, 2 way, both.

If you go aftermarket, they have dedicated glass breakage senors that listen for the sound of glass breaking.

You should also relocate and/or armor the horn and wiring to it. I'ts far to easy to reach up and cut in the stock location.

Punching the door lock cylinders are how they normally get in the 12th Gen F150s. You can get stuff to prevent that as well.

Honestly... sometimes I think it’d be easier to just take a few of the venomous snakes home from church and just leave them in the truck... along with some wads of cash...
