Hey all, newbie here. Wrenched on Jeeps for a while, but decided to go a different route for a change. I figured I'd start one of these threads to keep track of my mistakes along the way.

Picked up my 2020 on Dec 12, and then decided to pull the trigger on a few bits over xmas here. THANK YOU to all of you on this forum who have given me a lot of reading material. Your opinions and name-calling as I go about this are totally welcome!

Here's the initial order list...
  • Body
    • Rydonair 7" Antenna
    • Amp Research Powerstep
    • Amp Research Powerstep Pass Through Harness
  • Steering
    • RPG Tie Rods Black
  • Suspension
    • Fox 3.0 Race Live Valve Front Shocks
    • Fox 3.0 Race Live Valve Rear Shocks
    • Icon Delta Joint Upper Control Arms
    • RPG Stage 3 Rear Suspension With Deaver 3+ SD, Fox 2.5 Air Bumps
  • Wheels
    • Method 5x Model 315 Wheels 17x8.5
    • Method 14x1.5 Black Spline Lug
    • Chief Machining 94mm Center Cap Black
I'm still agonizing over bumpers and if I'm going to bother with an intercooler swap or not, but this feels like a good enough start. I'm planning on 37's, but haven't quite decided on what rubber yet. And I know I need a slot delete setup, but haven't decided between KHC or Rogue.

No real intention to beat the hell out of it, but it'll be off-road in some variety for sure out here in CO.

Wish me luck!

I dont get why you would go with a cast Method over the forged factory wheel? You know you can change up the ring if you wanted a different look over factory.

Just not a fan of the wheel. Tried to get the dealer to keep them and give me the cheap ones, because I knew they'd be coming off right away. The ring isn't the problem for my eye. Cast Method or KMC etc, vs forged isn't a big deal to me, either.

iirc that method 315 is about 10 lbs lighter than the factory forged wheel. it wouldn't surprise me if it was a weight thing.

Killer start; I love your method and approach to your build, addressing tangible handling improvements over superfluous cosmetic changes that proffer no advantage.

FWIW, I just came off a set of 37" KR2's to the narrower and quieter KM3's. Both are amazing tires for a myriad of reasons, but I've been extremely happy with the durability and performance of the BFG brand. The KM3's are far better in rain / snow, but I'd choose the KR2's all day in the summer months when blasting through the desert, even with the egregious road noise.

Looking forward to more of this build!
