Hello - I have a 19 Raptor with 10k miles and noticed that rust is appearing on the belly. Dealer says this is surface only, no big deal, and not to worry about it. Thoughts?

To me that seems excessive, but yeah it is only surface rust. I hate rust, I spray the underside of my raptor with fluid film, there are other products as well. This stuff will stink a bit like old gym socks, so I always park it outside for a couple days until it dries a bit. First application, you will probably go through 3 cans.

Surface rust but, Yeah that seems a bit excessive, especially being from GA. I don't have anywhere near that amount

No, it doesn't get rid of rust. It's actually a lanolin based product that is pretty good at PREVENTING rust. I had my whole underside done with Wool-Wax before the winter, it worked really well. The Woolwax is a newer version that doesn't stink and it also comes in black.

OP, that does look like a lot for being in Georgia. That looks more like I would expect from somewhere with heavy salt/brine use.

Nope, but it does a good job at hiding and by that I mean, if you spray it over a rusty rear end housing it penetrates the rust and brings out the original color, etc. @Oldfart is right it stinks but only for a couple days. I prefer it, but that’s just me. I’ve never tried any other stuff, so I’m biased, lol. Fluid film to the rescue!!

Hmm that protection plate has quite a bit of rust on it but you got some great advice here.

Fluid Film for sure. Easy to find but stinks like sheep.
I’m investing in some Woolwax this year to do the cars.

Another great way to clean the underbelly is to get an spray attachment for your pressure washer.
Sprayer will remove some of the FF but it should be reapplied regularly.

Yeah, OP you might want to scrub some of the rust with a wire brush first and touch up with rust paint, then FLUID FILM or something else :favorites37:
