I took my raptor to Fastlane in Houston to get the phase 2 Roush phase2 SC installed. I asked them to change the spark plugs with the install. They were not very polite. Not very good customer service , charged me $1000 to change them, long story short when I got the truck back it wasnt running right I told them they said they would take a look at it they never did. I had the plugs pulled and it was as clear that they had not been touched(see pics). My question is I bought the NGK ruthenium HX plugs and took it back to Fastlane to get them installed and they’re telling me that they don’t need to be re gapped that they need to go with the OEM gap which is .044 because it’s not a colder plug although I know it is a colder plug. Is there any one out there who has definitive data in terms of the gap The plug needs to be with the Roush phase 2 supercharger and a NGK ruthenium/ HX NGK spark plug. ?

Thanks for the reply but Fastlane is telling me that that’s only necessary if there is a special tune like a JDM engineering tune, put on the truck, not the standard Roush phase 2 tune that the OEM gap is, what is required from Roush. Also, these are the plugs I had removed a couple weeks ago that they charge me $1000 to install which is clear that they did not install any plugs a year ago.

Roush Stage 2 uses the standard plugs, plug gap, coils and wires as its a relatively low state of tune for a boosted application (6psi). Contacted Roush about it this week as I'm about 7k km away from going the plugs and its running like they're due. The Ford parts store shows SP526X is interchangeable with the SP526. On the NGK plugs the X is the notation for the iridium tip version. I run the NGK iridium ones on all my bikes, they're hard to foul, even the smokers and they run cleaner and better for longer. Not checked the price difference.

Heat ratings and plug gaps is a minefield... narrow gaps are used for high boost applications, assume the JDM kit is much higher boost and power. Heat rating is also linked to ignition timing, no big changes to the timing, no need to bother.
