1) Buy an all new steering wheel.
2) Buy an aftermarket fake cover.
3) Buy the aftermarket Mercedes pimp cover.
I like option 1 or 3.

Was it difficult to swap out?
Not at all - remove negative battery cable - search youtube on how to remove the airbag, you basically stick a narrow flat head screw driver in 2 holes near the paddles and unhook the airbag. Once unclipped, pull it out and disconnect the cables. Remove the nut holding the wheel on. If you get a new wheel, it will come with the buttons so you don't need to swap the controls on the wheel. Reverse the process.

Easy for me to say, but the replacement wheel option seems best. 400 bucks isn’t that bad. To me the wheel is your connection to the truck and your always having to look at it. Get’er done!

New wheel for sure. But you could also check into having it re-dyed by an automobile upholstery shop. They'll airbrush the color coat and finish with a matte top coat to look brand new.
