Bajabro, could you take some pictures from the front like my pictures to see what position your bottom spring retainer is in from both sides? Just wondering if its supposed to be like mine in my pictures or if mine or wrong.

I have a 21 37 with 12k on it. It has been squeaking from the front a for a little while now. Not sure what side since it’s been raining. Had the dealership do an oil change and mentioned it to them. They notes the sound, but couldn’t figure out from where. I’ll do my own investigation and take it back at a later time.

If I were you, I’d do exactly what I did: warranty a new set of front 37PP Fox Shocks from Ford. I’ve been driving on the new set of shocks and the ride is back to normal. The steering wheel feels a little heavy, but not too much. Since these shocks are brand new, it’ll probably take a good 1,000 miles to break them in. Either way, I’m loving the ride and I’m very happy to know the squeaking is gone.

Yes! Here’s a side profile of the driver side front shock that was replaced. The other passenger side shock got replaced too, but I didn’t take a picture of that side.

As you can see in the pics. The spring retainer collar position is different. My squeak appears to coming from the passenger side. Can the spring retainer collar be turned 180 degrees on the passenger side?

Daddy Helm, mine is set up like yours as well which seems incorrect. Can we get a few more 37 owners to post pics of their front shocks?
37 PP, same issue with right front squeak since about 9,000 miles. Drove me crazy but never had time to leave it at a dealer to get it looked at. Finally at 28,000 I did. Here’s where we are at. Found the right front shock is out of alignment with the spring. You can see how the shock is centered on the left front and off on the right front. Dealer is supposed to be going to bat for me with Ford. I’ve never off roaded this truck other than the occasional job site but nothing hard core. I’ll update with what Ford says.

Just from looking at the picture it looks like the bottom spring retainer is 180 off. The thinner sides should both be facing the same way. In other words, both sides towards the engine.

Looks like the dust boot that should cover the shock shaft is missing in all the photos. Maybe Ford changed the shock configuration on the 37pp? All OEM shocks I’ve ever seen on all passenger vehicles have an upper boot to protect the shaft surface.

The online parts database isn’t updated to show the parts list on 22+ yet, but all previous years show the dust boots as part of the assembly.

I’m starting to think even though it seems incorrect, that it is correct. The dealer told me it was.

Mine is a 35, it’s the same way. I don’t think it’s right, the top spring retainer is spun around. I have an appt in a couple weeks, I am going to have them check this out.

Keep us posted. Just doesn’t make sense why the lower collar wouldn’t be symmetrical on both sides.
