Hello all

Apparently there is an open recall (NHTSA 26V578) for fuel tank strap install issues including 2026 model year Raptor Rs. I do not have the paperwork handy so I cannot recite the recall number.

I am going in tomorrow AM to have it looked at by my dealer.

Anyone have a R that had a faulty install in this regard yet?

Thank you

Just had the recall examination done this morning. They didn't find anything on my truck. Apparently none of the trucks they evaluated to have had any issues.

They did say that 5W 50 synthetic Motorcraft oil is starting to get back ordered though. Just FYI.

I had mine checked as well and it passed inspection. I however am smelling fuel in my garage, which I have read is one of the side effects of the recall if there is an issue.
That sounds odd and hopefully is just something innocuous.

My truck is rattling now from the underbody. I wonder if they needed to unbolt underbody protection to look at the tank straps and didn't torque everything down properly, or maybe it was like this before and I did not notice.

Maybe I am just going nuts.

Anyone know what kind of bolts are used to secure the fuel tank skid plate? Maybe I will try to snug them down myself this weekend.

My fear is the dealership technicians are diction morons. They probably used an impact wrench set an 150 psi to fasten the plastic skid plate bolts. They are almost all lazy incompetent know it all morons. My biggest fear is taking a vehicle in for warranty work. You are almost better off just paying a reputable mechanic so you shit doesn’t get ****** up worse than when you brought it in for repair.

Heading back to the dealership now to have the noise examined.

Edit: Apparently they did not have to drop the skid plate to check the fuel tank straps so something else is at issue, they are checking.

It was a front skid plate clip that had that spun itself out which was causing the rattle. Quick fix.

Goes to show that sometimes you are not just hearing things and it is not just in your head.

The service manager ordered me a Ford Performance polo for free which was a nice thought.

Better than my dealer would do. You’d be lucky to get a bottle of forever chemical and arsenic laced water from them.

Probably Fine

True. Broke a tab off the passenger side center console trim piece and busted the auto-close on the cover over the phone compartment. To the dealerships credit they fixed everything with no fuss. Same with the time their free wash came with complimentary swirl marks all over my black truck... I'd still take it to them though since they've made right on any mistakes they've made. Just go over your vehicle with a fine tooth comb when picking it up is all.

The time effort and aggravation it all brings is seldom ever worth it. Unless the repair is very expensive. You just need advise them not to wash it wash, make sure the mechanic doesn’t get grease all over your interior and then check the work they performed as it almost 100% of the time appears as they intentionally ****** something up.
