I pre-ordered (no down payment) my Raptor R from a local dealer when the 2025 order banks opened on day 1 back in September. I've called the dealer recently to check on the order, but no build date is in sight. The Sales manager claimed they received two allocations last year but wouldn't tell me when or even confirm if they have one. I'm "1st" in line in their order bank though they claim. I'm worried they may not even have allocations for 2025.

My question is for you guys. Can you place a pre-order if a dealership doesn't has an allocation? Some dealerships I've spoken to say you can't place an order without one. I've heard mixed answers on this.

At this point, I may just go look to buy a built one. However, I'm having a hard time finding one at MSRP (as I'm sure most of you are aware of). I do have it in writing from my dealership that my current order would be at MSRP.

Not sure what to do.

Doubtful you will find an R at MSRP. A order will not be filled without an allocation. More than a few threads here on this topic.

Best bet is to start calling dealerships all over the country.

Dealerships can accept pre-orders without an allocation, but it's essentially a waiting list. Ford allocates production slots to dealers, and they can't place a firm order without one. Your dealership may be taking pre-orders in hopes of receiving future allocations. IMO

I have an official order from Ford, so does that mean they have an allocation? How do I know if a dealership will get a future allocation?

You have to ask the dealer if your truck order has been placed using their allocation. The paper from Ford just means you placed a deposit, doesn't mean your truck will be built.

Thank you, Nex. I ended up buying one that was already on a lot. The dealership I pre-ordered through did not have an allocation.

I think some of this is just good/bad luck really.

A friend of mine turned me on to a dealer who would (as a favor to my friend) allow me to order a 2025 and buy it at MSRP. The only hitch in the deal was that I had to go on their waiting list and just wait until they got my allocation. So, to answer your question... yes, I was able to place my order (spec everything, etc) even though they didn't have the allocation yet. He told me to expect 12-15 months as I was number 11 on their list and they were getting these allocations at the rate of (about) 1 per month.

No problem.. I was just thrilled to get the deal AT ALL. There was absolutely no chance that I was going to pay over msrp for one of these so the wait was a very fair caveat. So I place the order back in early October (2024) and then settle in for the long wait. Right about early March I get a call from the dealership telling me that they already assigned me a build date of late February with expected arrival at the dealership sometime mid-late March (2025).

I was thrilled.. obviously! The sales manager had no idea how this happened. This is a very large dealership and he said they had only seen that happen 1 other time, and he learned that the other lucky buyer had a friend who was a "VP of whatever" at Ford, so he got involved to help that order along. I think my deal was just a fluke.. what else could it be? I don't have a great-uncle named Edsel or anything like that..

I know its tough to be patient, but buying at MSRP is HUGE! You can drive that thing and (probably) do very well when you want out of it. It's pretty incredible how all Raptors are holding their value. There is no way that I would have plopped down 113k for on of these if it was going to depreciate like a Ram or one of those other off brands.. I suspect that this is how buyers are talking themselves in to paying 30k over msrp.

I was in your same shoes. I placed an order for a Raptor R for MSRP with a dealership back in September too. I gave a $500 deposit. I called Ford and they do indeed have my order, but it will be in what is called "Unscheduled Clean". Meaning there are no hold ups but the dealer has no allocation so the order will just sit there with Ford. And apparently it will sit there forever. I have heard they can have the order rollover to the next year. They told me when I ordered that Ford makes every order they send but back in September, they could not confirm their allocations yet as Ford was still making 24' Raptor R's all the way up to October.

So, in late February I contacted the dealership asking about my allocation and I was eventually told they didn't have one and they still had a customer who ordered a 23's R and it hasn't been built yet either and they keep rolling it into the next year. So basically, they lied to me about Ford making every order they send.

I ended up finding one that was on the lot ready to drive home. Unfortunately, I had to pay $11k ADM which I hated doing but I now have a Raptor R. It wasn't Space White like I wanted but Oxford White. But now that I have it, boy it has put a smile on my face like when I first purchased my GEN1. I really enjoy driving it.

Damn thing is fun to drive! I've got an Aston Martin DBS and a Ferrari 458 (among a few others) but I've had 3 Raptors as my daily driver for the past 7-8 years now and I loved each of them.. But this R is just ridiculous. Nearly as quick to 60mph as my 458!
