Late to the party, but yes, you can hear everything with the console lid closed. I run Rugged Radio VHF RM 60 and 696 intercom. I've only gone on one run, and although I brought the headsets, I didn't use them. Driving for upwards of 8 - 10 hours a days, would probably given me a headache wearing them that long. (Pic of set up).

That's what my buddies with more purpose built prerunners and buggies have said, it gets tiring and annoying wearing the headsets. I'd avoid them if I could.

I ended up going with a refurbished Kenwood from PCI. Can check out the install on my build thread.

I have similar setup and wondering how to pipe the fm radio/satellite radio through the intercom to headsets. Were you able to do that or just play music Bluetooth from your phone? We do alot of Mexico trips so phones rarely work and satellite radio would be nice playing in headsets.

I don’t “think” that’s possible? But I don’t know for sure? I have XM so we just listen to that.
