I've been considering buying a 70 chevelle from a friend, pretty clean car, it'd be a great start for a build. I'd love to do a clean pro touring style build with it someday.

Anyone ever build one, own one, or know someone that has? I'd love to hear some stories and see some pictures!

I don't know anything about GM cars but I am starting a pro touring/ restomod project on my 68 Mustang. I will have many parts and photos to show soon.

Best advice: make a budget and be prepared to actually triple the cost, it just happens. It doesn't pay to use any old part even if you think it's good, do it right, it's the only way you will be happy in the end. Built a 69 mustang.

Think of it as building a house. Draw up a plan, create a concise build sheet along with costs. Add in every last detail you can possibly think of. Of coarse you're going to try stick to this plan as best as you can and probably not be able to, then double the original cost.

Because the raptor isn't enough of a bottomless money pit?

I've got a '69 camaro with Art morrison subframe and IRS that I put on hold while I dump money into the raptor. Some day it'll have a LS motor and a 6 speed.

Also have a '57 with a blown big block, I don't really consider it pro-touring, but it does have upgraded brakes and low profile tires. The 57 has tubular upper and lower control arms, coil overs on each corner and a 4 link in the rear.

I would agree with the part of doubling the budget. It happens fast. Got a 70 mustang. 351 stroked to 393. Switched to a 5 speed. Lot of fun. Lot of work.
