GEN 2 Post Deaver Clunk

Hey there, sorry for the delay, it's been a fun winter here in the pacific northwest. I've had some snow time with the Raptor, but most of my time has been working on the '68 F100 (check it out on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/tobiasmeadsmith/)

Tonight I spent an hour messing with the e-brake cable, thinking it was the culprit of the clunk, to no avail. Then I thought of Zombiekiller's post about shackles, and after a quick spray of silicon lubricant on both sides, the clunk is gone. So I'm assuming they are overtightened, but will leave them as long as the lube keeps working. Stay tuned, and thanks for the advice!

this is pretty common- the creaking comes from the leaf in the pack that has the clamp and no friction pad. Hang the rear suspension and grease all of them. You can tap a prybar between the leafs to separate them and add grease

A dry lube would be better for dirt. Grease and dirt is grinding compound

PS, I got this info from the good folks at Deaver:

"Definitely use ample grease on the bushings especially on the shackle end and yes only torque the shackle bolts to 50 lbs we want them to move unrestricted. Check and see if maybe a pad at the end of the leaves are missing or that maybe a retaining clip might be rubbing the spring pack."

So, I got the truck up on a lift because the clunking is still driving me crazy. I noticed this on the front of the passenger side springs. It droops down a solid 3 inches when unloaded, with what seems like zero spring resistance. I think this is very likely where the clunk is coming from. The drivers side doesn't do this.
