I just bought a 2013. It has a cold air intake. What is this cover? Is it for extremely dirty off-roading situations?

Also does it needed tuned if it has a cold air intake added? How would i know if it was done or joe somebody just DIY it?

The cover provides an extra layer of protection against dust, dirt, and pollen and also has some water repellant benefits.

Most all CAIs are designed on a flow bench to run with the factory air sensor and intake map. No aftermarket tune should be required unless you are detecting that the engine is running lean.

CAIs are remarkably easy to install as they are designed to be installed by the end user. It's not even a one-beer job. It won't matter whether the former truck owner paid someone to install it or if he did it himself.

Here, read up on your CAI yourself: https://www.knfilters.com/77-2579ktk-performance-air-intake-system

Just make sure the hose clamps are tight, Looked at used truck (diesel) with a CAI the guy said was never dirty, reached down and the hose clamps were so lose they swiveled around the filter. Alot of good the filter was doing, hate to see the inside of that diesel.
