I just picked up a 2014 SCREW and plan to really have some fun with it out here in Arizona. In an effort to avoid desert pinstriping and UV damage since it won't be garaged, I looked for a number of temporary protective coatings. Wraps were about as expensive as repainting, and I was only looking to spend ~$500. I used Plasti Dip on my F250 rims and bumpers, and that took some surprising abuse driving through mesquite brush. I didn't really want to change the color or cover the graphics, so I looked at this clear Plasti Dip that no one seems to use:

I thinned with 50% Xylene, and sprayed with the same Earlex hvlp sprayer I used on my house (I did buy the gun from DipYourCar). I did this all in my driveway one evening and morning, including masking time. I worked half the truck at a time, then the tailgate and hood/roof separate.
I'm not usually a fan of Plasti Dip, but for this purpose, I'm pretty happy with the result. The finish isn't matte like the black that most people use, but more of a satin and it even has a dull shine:
Here's a side by side of the hood (uncoated) and the fender (coated):
I actually wound up spraying right over the rear tail lights to see how they looked, and you can't tell they've been sprayed unless you're really looking at them.
I'm thinking about spraying the headlights now too. I'm going to drag the truck through some brush this weekend to see how it holds up, but I'm pleased so far, especially since I spent less than $300.
