    CORVA:
"The San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District (APCD) has the power to order the state to stop operating Oceano Dunes SVRA. The retiring APCD Officer proposed his agency issue a 'Nuisance and Abatement Order' just prior to his departure. This requires a hearing, which will take place this Wednesday, March 21st, to determine what actions the APCD will take. This could include an order that would close completely the SVRA.

Rather than face almost certain closure of the SVRA on terms set by the APCD rather than Parks, SVRA administration opted for an agreement that would allow OHV use to continue, with serious restrictions. Although the hearing board could still issue an order to close the facility at their meeting, this is far less likely with the settlement agreement in place

We strongly believe Oceano Dunes SVRA must remain open to OHV recreation and oppose severe restrictions that will limit access to the dunes. After the hearing we must all work together to investigate legal options available. We will do whatever we can to protect our park."

Update: The vote has been suspended until April 30

I haven't been able to make it to a meeting yet. They're always during the day when most people are busy and all the retired people who are fighting for its closure have nowhere else to be. Everyone that is able should try to make to the next one so we can have more representation.

FRF members who like to go to Oceano Dunes (Pismo Beach) may not be aware that the dunes are on the verge of being closed permanently. All one has to do is see how much has been lost since 1982.

Locals who use the dunes need to be at the hearing on April 30th. Those who can't make it please consider making a donation to Friends of Oceano Dunes.

Not a lot of love in this thread! I know there are several FRF members on the Central Coast who enjoy the dunes. I sure hope to see some of them on 04/30/18 to help save Oceano Dunes!

Good luck guys! Any time we loose a resource like this it is bad for the community as a whole, Especially in California! Is there a petition started like on change.org? I would sign it and they can be helpful? A number we can call who can't be represented?

"Friends of Oceano Dunes is still very concerned that the APCD is trying to use bad data and bad science to justify their desire to close off more acreage at the Oceano Dunes for vegetation. All of this under the guise of protecting the health of those on the Nipomo Mesa.

The deadline to submit letters to the APCD is Monday April 23rd, letters are required to be received 5 business days prior to the meeting. As the date of this post, less than 20 letters have been received for this upcoming April meeting.

Your letter should be just that, your letter. Please DO NOT mention Friends of Oceano Dunes in your letter but mention what concerns you about the closures at the park. If you're not sure what the issues are, you can find more information at oceanodunes.org or on our Facebook Page.

To everyone who sent a letter for the March meeting, thank you. Your voices were heard and we were able to fill a lot of in-boxes. It’s time to do that again; please submit another letter in support of the park.

This post will reach over 10,000 people, just think of the impact it would have if everyone who read this sent in a letter.

    LET’S FILL SOME IN-BOXES.
E-mails should be sent before APRIL 23RD to the following:

    For your information:
The next APCD Meeting will be held
    9:00 am Monday, April 30, 2018
SLO County Board of Supervisors Chambers
    1055 Monterey Street
    San Luis Obispo, CA 93401
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A DIFFERENT LOCATION THAN THE MARCH MEETING!

We hope there will be a lot of supporters attending this meeting. If you can, take a vacation day, sick day, personal day, switch shifts, whatever you need to do, please make plans to attend and speak up so your voices are heard.
We encourage you to send in letters expressing your concerns. Do your homework and get up to speed on the issues."
