Hello! I am looking into getting a late model (2013 or 2014) gen 1 Raptor with about 90k-110k miles. Was wondering what I should be ware of when buying one of these trucks and also what could potentially break or need to service soon after purchase? Thank you in advance!

Where is it located?

Rusty cab corners and rockers are pricy to fix…ask me how I know.

Get a PPI from a certified source, or at least a shop you trust. Check codes.

Run it hard before buying, make sure you get a cold start, check shifts from 2-3 aren’t super rough, and check the electronic locker and 4WD to make sure IWEs are working.

Everything else is parts that are easily replaced. Shocks will probably need a rebuild, brakes, tires, spark plugs, check fuse 27, reroute sunroof drains outside, retape rocker holes or get rubber plugs, the list goes on…Fun to do yourself to boot.

Pull oil samples from the engine and transmission for testing by Blackstone Laboratories or a similar service . Ask me how I know.
