Anyone have suggestions for overland spots in VA, NC, SC, and/or GA? Drove up to DC for the break to see family and on the way back down to FL I’m looking for a spot or two to stop. I have a rooftop tent so any places with some killer views that are pretty secluded would be greatly appreciated. Not looking for campgrounds with a bunch of RVs. Thanks!!
Its a bit chilly this time of year, but Assateague Island National Seashore is beautiful. I'm partial to carova, NC but it isn't exactly " on the way". ( and I don't think there are any legal camping spots there anyway). There's something about herds of wild ponies still roaming the beaches that speaks to me.
Yea that is on the list but definitely at a warmer time. The goal with “on the way” is to get a little bit South haha. If I can get 40 degrees at night that would be swell.
Another one for a warmer time that I found in NC was cape lookout. But they stop running the ferry this time with the cold weather.
