Someone will buy it for that price. Can't blame the dealership for that...

My family's dealership just bought a new raptor from another store for $1K over MSRP because they'll sell it for $5K over.

Allocation is drying up quickly so I'd be willing to bet that we'll see the "market adjustment" more apparent now than ever.

5k is low from what I've been seeing. And 5k is a drop in a bucket to some folks. If this is the last year of the first gen raptors, I would rather have payed this than not get a brand new one.

Hell, the local ford dealership by me was charging a 10k markup back in september because they were a small dealership and said they would only get 3-4 for the whole 2014 production. They ended up getting 3 of them and one guy bought them all for his business. It's a free market.

Would you rather not have a free market economy? I guess the government could come in and decide what can be sold for what price. Sounds a lot like communism to me.

Theres a dealership in california asking 70-80k for raptros. That is their choice, and we, as a free market society, have the choice to pay it or not.

I'm seeing that more and more now, as the frenzy heats up. Production is winding down with no clear timeline for the next generation Raptor (another entire topic). Economics 101 at play (or so I hear...my memory is not so good).

Really? Maybe you should gripe to Ford about it. It's a limited production vehicle and dealers are only getting their hands on a token few. Supply and demand is the driving factor here. You could also blame us as the consumer because we've set the market.

Ruger, If you yourself owned a dealership, who would you sell a car to... the guy looking to get a discount or the guy who is more than happy to hand you let's say $5K over for the same car? I'm eager to hear your response.

That is low for on lot prices in California. Dealer's around here have 10k markup and people are paying it. Not very smart people. but they are paying it.
