Hi there just bought a raptor and looking to start doing our local trails up here in Washington. I was hoping for recommendations on proper safety equipment or off-road gear like your check list and maybe the best brand to buy from?

Also any resources for learning how to off-road? (Pending slot for the assault course)

For resources there are a lot of posts on this subforum. See if there is a local club you can join, it's really best to go out with a group if you aren't confident. Look for a raptor run in your area, they are a blast and you will learn more about your truck than any other environment.

I would start with basic hand tools. One thing to do is make sure you can put a wrench or a socket on basically everything on your truck. On my cummins I know that I needed a 28mm to swap a fuel filter. I would throw a recovery strap and 2" receiver shackle in your hitch, look at factor55 for soft and hard shackles. A spare belt and a puncture kit are great. I keep a viair compressor with me and it has been in valuable. Sometimes having these things can help someone you find on the trail get out of a pickle.
