Not a fan of the 10 speed Tranny

    When mine was tuned to run through every gear with mpt it ran fine but I preferred how it used to skip gears, now I'm back to it slamming into 5th spontaneously

    2.7L/3.5L/5.0L Engine And 10R80 Transmission - Harsh/Bumpy Shift And/Or Engagement Concerns - Built On Or Before 15-May-2018

    Model:
    Ford
    2018 F-150

    Issue: Some 2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 2.7L, 3.5L or 5.0L engine and 10R80 automatic transmission and built on or before 15-May 2018 may exhibit harsh/bumpy upshift, downshift and/or engagement concerns.

    Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

    Warranty Status: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage Warranty/ESP coverage limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. Warranty/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool.

    Service Procedure

    1. Check the vehicle build date. Was the vehicle built on or before 15-May-2018?

    (1). Yes - reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) using the latest version of the appropriate Ford scan tool.

    • NOTE: ADVISE THE CUSTOMER THAT THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ADAPTIVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT STRATEGY WHICH ALLOWS THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER TO LEARN THE TRANSMISSION'S UNIQUE PARAMETERS AND IMPROVE SHIFT QUALITY. WHEN THE ADAPTIVE STRATEGY IS RESET, THE COMPUTER WILL BEGIN A RE-LEARNING PROCESS. THIS RE-LEARNING PROCESS MAY RESULT IN FIRMER THAN NORMAL UPSHIFTS AND DOWNSHIFTS FOR SEVERAL DAYS

    What is your build date? See TSB above for reference. FYI the TCU is the embedded modem (Telematics Control Unit); the Transmission Control Module is the TCM.

    I've seen a article on the internet that said ford was getting sued over this tranny. Does anyone know the outcome of this?

    There is a class action suit. Not sure the results of if its final yet. I would say that you should absolutely not tune these trucks and risk voiding transmission warranty. Even with warranty mine kept failing. If i i w tuned, i'd be out about 30k or more in repairs!

    I’ve got the same issue and only when I don’t let it warm up for at least 5 min. Is this a pretty common issue/annoyance?

    6 months and 10k miles on a 2019 and nothing but smooth as glass shifts. No issues here. Sorry you're having the issue

    Mine shifts a little hard when going into 5th gear when it's warmed up and when I'm really on the throttle.

    Maybe I'll try a battery disconnect.

    How long should I disconnect the battery?

    The only thing like this I've heard of was regarding the DSG transmission in the Ford Focus and Fiesta
