I bought my wife a 2020 Raptor, and I've been researching some performance mods (exhaust, CAI, tuner, etc). My experience is mostly with Powerstrokes, Mustangs & Corvettes, and as you would expect, those are completely different markets, different vendors, etc. I've noticed that there seems to be a wide range of hp/tq outcomes with various tuners, so I'm curious what the consensus is on which shops are the most trustworthy, which tuners are the best and which performance mods are worth it. No offense to those that think otherwise, but the exhaust on this thing sounds awful, so that will be one of the first things to get changed. Based on some videos as well as forum searches, the "Mountune" exhaust seems to be a good option. In fact, their MRX 600 kit seems to be a great start, though I'm a little surprised that their 93 octane tune is only a 41hp/79tq (at peak) improvement over stock...seems surprisingly low. maybe not?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

The exhaust does sound awful when stock but can be worse if you put the wrong aftermarket exhaust on it.

    #facts.

I can't speak on tunes just yet, I need to get my own vehicle solid before dealing with a tune again.

I’m a huge fan of the sound I got from the Borla ATAK. I sing it’s praises a lot. I’ve done a lot of mods and it is by far my favorite. I’ll include a YouTube video. Best to listen with good headphones or you won’t get full effect. Still sounds better in person. Love Love Love my Borla ATAK...i’ve Heard others and this one is perfect for me. The Borla S is good too if you want a bit quieter... I think the ATAK is plenty quiet when just cruising without any drone.

Went with Cobb Stage 2 with TCM, intake, JLY catch can, CVF IC, SPD turbo adapters (haven’t installed them yet) and AMS boost tubes. Really changes the truck.

haven’t thought about exhaust yet, these engines don’t sound very good in my opinion so quieter for exhaust the better. Plus, they don’t add much power anyways.

Hey Kmorgs... What were you looking for when installing all those mods?? I’m new to the “tune and engine mods” part of this and am curious what these mods gave you? Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for your input. I'll look into the Borla ATAK. I think the biggest issue for me is that I'm so accustomed to the v8 sound and mostly associate the raspy v6 sound to the honda civics with the huge shopping cart wings, back in the early days of "fast and furious". I would be happy to find something that was quiet and deep sounding, but it doesn't sound like that exists. There's only so much you can do, so it makes sense. There's a video on youtube of a guy that just cut the mufflers off and it sounds like the more exotic sound of the Ford GT...that was interesting.

On a side note, what's the deal with the huge hp/tq differences of these tuners. For example, the Mountune package advertises ~40hp/80tq with exhaust, CAI, aftermarket intercooler, etc...but places like MPT, Five Star, and few others are advertising 100+hp with nothing but a tune. Being that it's a stock twin turbo with direct injection, that seems more reasonable...also closer to on-par with the diesel upgrades. Maybe they're just very conservative and the others are on the ragged edge of breaking?

Interesting, I'm curious to see what kind of difference those mods make.

the Cobb Stage II kit feels like its in Sport mode .... It pulls much harder, and power difference is noticeable. The Truck was fun as hell stock, now even more so....... I put 1000 miles on mine post stage II kit last weekend, and honestly, didn't see much difference in mileage, with a whole lot more power. Makes the truck come alive.
