I know everyone seemed upset when the new Supra was announced including me but I've been following a few threads on some of the other forums and they are much quicker than expected. Looks like BMW sandbagged the numbers per usual. Rated at 335 crank and most are 360+ to the wheels.

Tuned with downpipes already has this thing running 10.7 1/4 mile

    Motor looks stout as well

Another tuner running mid 11's on street tires

OOOOOOOooo, thats awesome. If true, it really speaks to the true heart of the last gen supra, a good car with HUGE potential.

Oh man, will this be like the last model Supra? You know, the mythical unicorn that would turn 9 second quarter miles on street tires?

TBH, I did spy one at MIR that ran a 12.7 - 12.8 quarter but he had drag radials, bigger turbo, etc.

    we’ll see I suppose.

It is starting to seem a little mythical lol. However it's relatively light at 3400lbs (by todays standards) with an 8 speed transmission and a stout block might make for some pretty quick times with traction. I'm sure there will be a ton of aftermarket support as well. I guess it'll come down to whatever the weak link in the equation is. Could be trans, axles, rear diff etc... I'm just stoked it's not the dud everyone anticipated it would be.

This new car is pretty cool, but totally got away from what the supra was. The supra of the 90's was a huge bargain. Supercar performance for a fraction of the price.

Great to see it can run some quick ET's, but that motor isn't going to be able to hold a candle to what the 2JZ-GTE was (is) cable of handling stock.

Watch that tear down vid. May not be 1000hp stock bottom end but being forged internals with a solid deck we might see a few big turbo versions putting down big numbers

Our BMW Z4 35is had the same motor with a 7-speed DCT. It was quick but not 10.7 quick. Very solid inline 6 that loves boost.

10.7 was with slicks I believe but impressive either way. I'm kinda lamenting overpaying for my ISF now lol. I figured this car was a dud.

128 MPH at 3600 lbs takes nearly 600 HP. "Tuning and a downpipe" will not produce 600 HP.

Now if it had drag wheels, lightweight brakes, no interior, etc- basically setup for drag racing- OK, maybe, in mineshaft air and with a perfect track. Someone buying one off the lot and only getting that "tune and downpipe" installed will NOT be running mid 10s- no way, no how.
