Hey, just wondering if anyone has experience with this brand Hooke Roof Rack. I’ve been holding out on buying the KC Hilites M-Rack 9211, when recently I saw this new roof rack by this company Hooke. Just curious if anyone has experience or input, looks like a Chinese manufacture. To me the roof rack looks to sit too far back on the roof. Let me know your thoughts. It’s $299 on Amazon.

That seems like a cheap price for a good quality roof rack. I wonder what the load capacity is and the reviews.

I just installed the KC Hilites M rack, At first glance the metal on that rack looks thinner than the Mrack, probably why the Hooke rack have to use alot of angles. That one also sits higher than the Mrack also. My only complaint would be the same regardless of rack, when you add the front light bar, the fin design will whistle and at high speeds, vibrate. I finally fixed both issues using the Zroadz wind diffuser on the bottom fin and black door trim on the top fin.

I know a Taco guy who has the Hooke on his roof and quite frankly it rocks just as well as my neighbor’s Prinsu. Dude swapped out the hardware and primed & reshot his with bedliner. It’s solid and functional. I’ve been eyeballing the KC M Rack for over a year and just cant pull that trigger due to the cost... and haven’t looked at options in awhile. Now that I know there’s a Hooke for the 2013 Raptor my interest is peaked again. I’d take the gamble if I knew more about (or could see) the actual mounting solution. And of course I haven’t found anything online. Post up if you find something.

Looks like I’m in the same boat. No real life reviews or photos yet. It looks fine on a Tacoma, but wasn’t sure if the rack didn’t sit forward enough. Looks like a lot of space between the windshield and rack. This is also made of steel vs aluminum in the KC hilite version. Too bad the raptor doesn’t have pre drilled holes like a Tacoma. Looks like installation is one more thing we need to pay for too. I’ll keep my eyes on this

I imagine the mounting solution is also pirated from existing Ford racks. So regardless we are drilling holes for rivnuts. For my build, ultimately I need the additional storage capacity so I’m seriously thinking about it. If the Hooke Rack’s mounted height was the same (or close) to my ARE Ascent rack on my Cap... I’d do it. I’ll try and attach some photos so you can see what I’m thinking here. I’m going to send the seller on Amazon an email regarding installation method and mounted dimensions and see what they say.

Here's the reply I got back. First off, based on the syntax, spelling and grammar, there's no doubt its an offshore product. The reply answers the hardware question and provides the installation instructions (attached PDF).

Thanks for shpping with Hooke Road. Yes, there 8 rivet nuts mounting hardware. As for the material and height issue, I have submitted you issue to our relevant team, it will need some time to get back from tem. Also, I have attached an installtion instruction in this email , as you could check, how this rack will install on the F150 Raptor. I will inform you the relevant information once I get the the answer. Hope I was able to address your concern today. Have a nice day :) And happy new year! Best regards, Miya C.

If the 'relevant team' gets back to me with the installed rack height I'll post an update.

So today my neighbor and I compared the Hooke Rack on his Tacoma to the A.R.E Roof Rack on my cap. The Hooke metal stock is actually thicker than my A.R.E. thus theoretically could be sturdier(?). I liked what I saw up close however the coating and hardware is crap. While we were at it, I sold him a Yakima Rooftop storage box for $400. Not sure how Ive ended up with three coffins...

Given what Ive learned the past few days I pulled the trigger on the Hooke Rack. But I also ordered better quality installation hardware and channeled weather stripping (for the edges of the rack against the truck body). All in... less than $340.

Worse case it will be a failed experiment and I netted $60. Best case it will work out and I never came out of pocket for it.
