Just wanted to check in and introduce myself and my truck. My name is Brad, and I live in western WA. I’m new to this forum, obviously, but spent many years over on ExPo documenting various builds. I took a break from forum life back in 2020 when the world lost it’s marbles, but I have been using this forum as a reference for sorting out my new-to-me 2012 Race Red SCAB (103k miles), so I figured that I’d give it a go.

I broke a long standing rule of mine regarding not buying someone else’s modded vehicle, so I hope this truck works out. I’ve been sorting though some issues since I got it. Some common (fuse 27) and some still eluding me (PATS key related). I have ForScan, which already alerted me to a bad ignition switch so that’s cool.

It has Icon suspension with the rears being the dual hose RXT reservoirs, as well as RXT leaf springs (best I can tell). The bumpers are SVC and the chase rack is SDHQ. Method 702’s and 35” KO2’s. Exhaust is the MBRP pre-axle dump. All this was on the truck when I bought it including the two spares.

I have already done the fuse 27 relocate, replaced the ignition switch, and a bad door check. I have all the parts on hand to drop the trans valve body and replace the lead frame, trans filter, and bulkhead fitting. I also have plugs, coils and wires coming. Unfortunately, I have no idea what maintenance has been done on this rig, so I am getting a good baseline and tackling the stuff that would need to be done anyway at 100k miles.

Welcome to the club Brad,

I'm in the same boat youre in (buying someone elses modded truck) but so far so good. I don't trust anyone so i made sure I went over everything on the truck and fixed/replaced/drained what I needed to. I made maintenance a priority and shes running like a dream at 167k miles. We can't make it brand new but we can at the very least make it brand new to us.
Enjoy the s*** out of the truck! Saw some nice areas out in the PNW the few times I've been out there.
