Who will enforce it, half the cops don't even know the new laws. They think it's crazy too. They are human and normal guys like us. Many of my buddies all laugh and just give the idiots that piss them off tickets

My wife thinks I only have 3 guns

I just checked and the rest of the USA is full, so if you Newsomites need to relocate, you’ll need to check other locales for vacancy. I hear Mexico is nice this time of year.

    This. No issue for us.

Either way, it's not a new law. The law has always been there that you cannot exceed 95db. There is some argument around how the law recognizes SEA J1169 instead of SAE J1492, but the 95db remains the same. The enforcement of the law has changed in which it is no longer a "fix-it-ticket", but a straight up ticket. I've always had fairly loud cars, and have never had an issue. As long as you don't drive like a jerk, cops should leave you alone. However, my other car is quite loud, so you bet I'll be dropping it in neutral and coasting whenever I see a cop for now, haha.

Is there a higher noise decibel threshold for vehicles over 6k pounds or no limit at all? I’m sure I can’t drive around in a Raptor with open headers.

Ford performance touring exhaust is 50 state legal. Ford sport is 49 state legal. Guess this is why.

I'm honestly not 100% sure about the noise level above 6k pounds, but California Vehicle Code 21750 states that every car does need a muffler. So headers only would be illegal. Technically most modifications are illegal in California, even modifying your exhaust tips (or so I've heard). 95% of the time cops will not care unless you are messing around. Not enough of a reason for me to move. haha

The way I see it with this law is that cops might be on the lookout for a few weeks/months since this is a hot topic right now, but it will die down. If you haven't had an issue before with your exhaust, you shouldn't have an issue now. The actual law is still the same.
