No need to remove the transmission or transfer case to service the front differential. To access the bushings, the front differential must first be removed. These are the steps:

  • Remove the front driveshaft
  • Remove both half shafts
  • Remove the 4 crossmember nuts and bolts and remove the crossmember
  • Support the front axle assembly with a suitable jack
  • Remove the axle tube bushing bolt and flagnut
  • Remove the axle housing bushing bolt
  • Remove the steering shaft to steering gear bolt and disconnect the shaft from the steering gear
  • Remove the rear axle housing bushing bolt
  • Lower the front axle assembly
  • Disconnect the vent hose from the barbed fitting
