Have a ‘20 w/ 78k miles & shocks are def in need of rebuild- in fact they’re reminding me every day on cold starts now both rear shock solenoids are buzzing. TBH…ride quality isn’t that bad, but I know it’s not what it was when new & will only get worse. W/ my tonneau/small toolbox & misc stuff usually have 200 lbs or so in bed at all times & I often have a full cab- 2x80 lb dobies, wife, 2 kids…2x a year will do long road trip hauling whole family + 2500-3000 lb dual jetskis trailer or utility trailer.
Truck has been trouble free, but given the true cost of a real suspension refresh on these things I am considering trading for a gen3 too.
I’d like to keep a little rake at all times if possible, not be nose high w/ 1000 lbs of payload & 2500 lb trailer in back (level would be OK), I’d like to gain a little bit more payload capacity to help give shocks relief, don’t care about any fancy bump stop- just what’s necessary, I’d like to sit 1” higher overall w/ potential to run 37”s w/o rubbing in the future (have 35”s on w/ 80% tread life currently)
I am sure I’m sticking w/ rebuilding stock live valve either w/ Hammer or TSW, figure that’ll run $1200ish when all said & done
Rear springs- considering either Deaver +3HD or +4HD or icons? Looks like $1200-$1700ish
Rear bump stop or pad? No idea- what is best bang for the buck here? Are airbags an option? Timbrens kit or an adapter for stock relocation? Figure like $200-$250ish
Front springs- either keep OEM & leave as-is but add a small perch/collars kit 1” to help offset the added height of the deavers in back & add ride height overall or go w/ Eibach or Geisers- what height for my goals? +1” an option?? I do NOT want to have CV Angie issues, so my take is I really don’t want to be raising the front more than 1” overallDepending on collar vs springs this looks to be $350-$580
I’m guessing install + alignment is going to be $700-$1000ish
So overall it seems just a modest suspension rebuild/refresh will run $4500-$5000 all said & done. At that point I feel like I really need to consider doubling that as a $10k down payment & trading in on a new gen3 w/ fresh suspension as well….but I like knowing my current truck is proven & owes me nothing & has been well maintained
What do you all recommend???
