I did do it myself. I used 3M Rubberized Undercoating then 2nd coat with the Rust o Leum Truck Bed Coating. Seems to be pretty solid. Definitely more scratch resistant than the stock paint.

Sanded it with 180 grit, then a scotch brite pad. Cleaned, degreased, primed lightly then went for it. Basically ended up with a dull rough surface.
