Well it's been about 4 months since my "go cart" stage, and about 16 months since I first received my kit, and I've started the process of insurance, title, and registration. I have a painter that exclusively works on Factory Five kits lined up to do bodywork and paint but he won't be ready to take it until "late winter". I'm going to drive the hell out of it this fall before it gets too cold and I don't have to worry about scratches! No carpet, door panels, emblems, or other finishing touches at this point until I get it back from paint.

What is the "all in" cost on something like this? $20k? $40k?

Short answer is "it depends". If you get a basic kit and use a donor mustang, you could probably build one for $20-25K. If you go the "complete kit" and all new parts you are probably looking at $30-35K before paint. I kind of went all out on this one with 2017 Coyote crate motor, synchronized TKO 600 trans, IRS, power steering, 13" wilwood brakes, front/rear anti-sway bars so I'm at about $40K before paint.

If I were to do it......I would go the "all in" route

Some guys have built a running car with paint for ~$23k with all donor parts

I’m going all new on my setup and will be about $40k in parts alone
