This setup works great with little movement and allows you to tilt the iPad out of the way when not in use. I had previously kept the Icom that was in the truck when I got it but quickly realized that since it was an amateur band radio that had been modified it wasn't capable of transmitting on newer business band frequencies. I searched high and low for some good business band options that has a remote head and ultimately decided on a Kenwood TK790. The install was a giant pain in my ass but I needed to drop the headliner sooner or later in order to fix the sunroof so I figured I would knock it out all in one shot. Now the sunroof works again and I have a fancy new radio haha. It's setup with the mic input on the headunit as well as another mic input on the side of the center console so either configuration can be used.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]381444[/ATTACH]</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]381445[/ATTACH]</p><p></p><p>After the initial build up I put about 1000 street miles on the truck and then re-torqued everything before going out to geiser loop to shake down the truck and see what she could do. Honestly it performed much better than expected and I had to make very few tweeks in order to get it running the way I wanted. The rear end still leaves a bit to be desired but hopefully when my bypasses show up (one day) that will be a thing of the past.</p><p></p><p>[MEDIA=flickr]2o1LHQT[/MEDIA]</p><p></p><p>Originally I wanted to run an RPG bypass rack with a 454 motorsports chase rack but after picking up the RPG rack and taking some measurements it became obvious that with the 454 rack there would be no room for anything else in the bed like a cooler. So my buddy Cody at TSWAZ was able to get me swapped out to an RPG chase rack with the integrated bypass mounts. Though the rack won't have the option of removal, it does allow roughly half the bed to be used. I also fabbed up a quick little fluid holder for some extra engine oil and power steering fluid.
