Mid Perch Issue

Hey guys, I wanted to run something past you before I called the dealership up. I had a mid perch done by a local dealership on Friday after I had Toyo Open Country M/T's put on with new wheels. Based on the threads I have read, I expected a little stiffer of a ride. This morning I went over some railroad tracks that I go over everyday on the way to work. The difference today is that my front end bounced a couple of times after going over the tracks, it never did that in the stock perch. Can anyone tell me if I should be concerned about my shocks? Thanks in advance for any input.

Other than the mid perch, the only other change was adding fuel wheels with 35x12.5x20 toyo M/T's in a +20 offset. Please don't flame me over putting 20's on a raptor, I absolutely love the way my truck looks now. I can't imagine those wheels would cause the suspension to "bounce" in mid perch as I thought it would firm up the ride, but I'm not a mechanic.

You now have less rubber between the truck and the road. Plus a stiffer shock at mid perch. I'd have to conclude that it's the combination of both.

You could try to lower your air pressure in the tires a few psi?

I've got the same set up, except my offset is 0 on the wheels and I don't have the problem you mention at all. Ride is great.

Although, Joe, with the lower profile tire and perch spring stiffening it should be more of a harsh jolt than a "bouncing".

I would take it back to the dealer and tell them there is an issue. Is it a quick harsh bounce or a spongy bounce?

It was a spongy bounce, about 3 bounces to be exact. I have run over those tracks every day for a year with the stock setup and the truck never reacted that way. That is why I became a bit concerned this morning. Thank you for all the input!

You're expectations should've been correct. A stiffer ride. And adding a lower profile tire means you lose some of the sidewall "flex" or absorption of the bump which should've made a bit more stiff.

Have you looked at the shock body?
