The Teddybear Cactus looks so enticing. It looks so soft and furry with the sun shining on it it beckons you, Come Closer, Come and Pet me…(I could write **** novels )
These MFers are nasty! They are part of the Cholla Family including the dreaded Devils Club. They don’t actually jump but if if get anywhere near them they will attack you!! They have a fish hook type barb that is very difficult to remove. One attacked my hiking boot and I had to use a pliers to remove it. A hiker in Eldorado Canyon fell into a large one. He had to be Flight-4-Lifed to the Trauma Center.
They only grow at certain elevations with the right amount of water.
In yesterday’s Desert Wandering I found this poor baby with one stuck into her face near her eye
I watch Yellowstone so I figured I could rope her and remove it? No luck, they make it look so easy on tv
