2018 with 61,000 miles on it. The cam phasers were done 6,000 miles ago.
I noticed some new turbo whining in the last few weeks but today I smelled burning plastic when I parked the truck. The drivers side turbo intake tube was melted and had a large hole in it between the turbo and the vacuum tube. The inlet and tube were melted away. I could not get a picture of the hole. Maybe the oil in this tube ignited from the turbo? I'm not sure what to do. The truck still runs fine. Fix it myself or hope for some warranty from Ford?

Not a heat shield problem. I think the oil was sucked in from the vacuum tube and was ignited by the turbo. All from inside of the tube.

Ford covered a bit more than half the cost ($1300 total). In the end, I should have fixed it myself. I would have taken less time and money. The dealership part prices were almost double what oem online parts are. The person at the dealership who worked on my truck broke a vacuum nipple off of the intake pipe while replacing other parts. So he used glue and electrical tape to fix it. That lasted until I drove it away and got a code. They denied doing that. I finished the repairs myself.
