    Hello, Northeast Crew:

Going to be on Martha's Vineyard for Columbus Day weekend.

While I've found some public information (How do I get a permit to drive on the beach?) on the potential to spend part of a day with the Raptor on the beaches/trails, I thought I would check whether this group had any recommendations, tips, etc.

    Thanks,

    Dustin

    Good luck Dustin
I've only been out to the vineyard in a car.
Let us know how you make out and post some pics.

Never been there in a car, been there about 75 times by boat. I stay in Oak Bluffs, by East Chop Light. Awesome place. As far as I know, there is pretty limited beach access, if I remember right, Nortons is the only one for non locals, but I could be wrong. It would be a lot of fun out there, let us know

    Sorry for the late update.

We made out perfectly. After purchasing the annual OSV permit (not cheap), we had our run of all OSV-allowed beaches (no restrictions for bird mating, etc) noted in the link I provided above.

Permitting locations are essentially the same place as fishing license locations, so plentiful.

Since it was Columbus day weekend, we and a few fishermen had the beaches to ourselves. You can get to remote parts of MV (outer reaches of Chappy, etc) that no fair weather traveler would get to, Got out of the truck midday and walked for two hours without seeing another person.

We had a very good time, though I prefer hard-pack and woods terrain to beach. Fun nonetheless.

I'll be there 6/16-6/20. My brother in law and I are planning on checking out the off-roading at Norton Point ($60 day pass?!?!, christ). I'll post any decent footage from my GoPro and/or dash cam.
