Just picked up my gen 2 and have started ordering parts.

The first to arrive was the M&R Automotive dual 40" kit. I was on the fence between this system and a single rigid for double the price. After some debate, I went with the M&R kit.

My overall impression of the dual 40" kit is that it puts out more light than my Gen1 with a roof mounted 50" bar.

Installation was pretty easy. I'd never turned a wrench on a gen 2 and it took about an hour to install, and another half hour to wire.

Some people have mentioned the kit doesn't include wiring. It does include 10" of wires coming out of each light. The owner of M&R is planning to include a full harness in the future, making this a true plug and play kit!

Here's what's included in the kit.

2 light bars, 2 brackets, hardware, and instructions.

I decided to use molecular barrel crimps for the wiring connections. These are what we use on the race cars, and literally cold fuse the wire to the crimp.

I only had 10 AWG wire laying around. realistically it would be fine with 14AWG.

We also like to use marine grade heat shrink tubing. This has adhesive that will bond to the wire and make for a water tight connection.

Then cover both leads with abrasion resistant loom and marine heat shrink.

I drilled 2 1/2" holes in the passenger side of the shutter frame, and ran the wires through that, I know it should have rubber grommets. I will add those on Monday.

The grounds go directly to the battery using 10ga ring terminals. Wires are then zip-tied and strain relieved.

Ran the power leads to the left of the battery and utilized a factory hole to run a zip-tie through.

And then to the 1 and 2 switch wires using the same crimps and heat shrink.

Overall it looks better in person than I thought it would. Light output is awesome and it doesn't make any wind noise like my old roof mounted one.

The wiring lengths I went with were 2 ft for the ground and 3.5 ft for the +

I will get some off-road shots next week. I'm very happy with the kit. If anyone has any questions about install feel free to ask.

Great write up! They look great. I installed them on my truck as well. They are super bright! My brackets started to rust so I will be redoing this process when the weather gets nicer and recoating them.

Here's a pic showing high beams and then light bars. They are aimed a bit low since this is before my RPG collars were installed.

Here's with the light bars on. Crazy bright.

Great write up! Most of your pics don’t show up for me. I’m about to watch the video.

How are the lights holding up? I’m about to pull the trigger and want to make sure the quality is worth it.

I just installed a set of these myself. I took a bit longer than you, but in the end I got it done and I’m extremely happy with the way it looks. Some before and after pics.
