Thanks man!

With COBB TCM now released it transforms the feel of the truck! My dev truck makes 504whp (stage 2, so intake and Front mount intercooler only) on good fuel and it PULLS!
Yeah cuz they sold ya 1/2 a tune initially then bent ya over & sold ya the other 1/2 for the same price. Their claim is they were “working out the kinks” or whatever before releasing the Tranny tune saying they already had tune for the 10 speed on other vehicles....Which is a head scratcher cuz don’t see why the same tranny in the raptor would be much different?!?

So either they’re incompetent @ trans tuning or they already had the ability to add a trans tune & didn’t initially in order to make more profit down the road. Either way- all set.

Approximatetly 45HP to 55HP with 91 octane fuel and no other performance modifications.
I’d beg to differ....Gearhead advertises 100 hp/TQ on tune alone w/ dyno sheets for days to back that up (1 already listed by me in this thread) your hard parts may add a bit more power, but I think for the most part they’re making the increased power from the tune more readily/consistently available.

There is NO WAY a twin turbo, knowingly detuned, port AND fuel injected platform like HO 3.5 only gains 45-55whp on a tune. I’ve had older school port injected N/A V8 auto tranny vehicles gain 25-38whp on tune only & those #s are on a stingy ass mustang dyno w/ cars that didn’t have nearly the fine tuning ability the raptor has.

Additionally- the raptors 450bhp is on the min 87 octane rating, it’s common proven knowledge the trucks gain between 25-35whp BONE STOCK running 93 octane- even documented in a reputable car mag.

I’m not trying to be a ball buster I just think that claim is patently false. I have made big purchases from ORA/FRL & think you guys are knowledgeable & provide good service, I know you wanna sell your stuff- and if ANYONE is in the market for a turnkey performance package definitely skip cobb & go for ORA, but I have to respectfully disagree big time on this. If it were true then gearhead would be shit tuners & you wouldn’t have partnered w/ them
To begin with. But that’s obviously not the case.

If I didn’t want a stock location IC i probably would’ve just purchased a
ORAs 550 package.

It’s not half a tune, it’s simply an ecu tune. Tcm is a different module and therefore requires another flash to program.

COBB likes to fully test their product, if it takes a while then it takes a while. They have the best hardware and software and support (by miles) and people who want the best for their vehicles will wait. Simple.

I’m sure you know you can’t just take a 10spd out of a different vehicle and copy/paste code and make it work. It takes **a lot** of development work. And that takes time! Again, those who want the best will wait.

Ummm, nope, quite literally is/was 1/2 a tune bro. Sorry. MPT, livernois, 5 star, gearhead offer full tunes transmission & engine. Do you realize how much a difference a trans tune does for an auto vehicle? I’d wager the actual performance gains - 0-60, 1/4 mile especially, rolling 40 stomp DEF!!! are negligible stock vs tuned w/o the trans being touched despite the 70-120whp bump in power. “The left hand doesn’t know what the right is doing” is a fitting description.

To put it in perspective, diesel HD guys who already got all the power sometimes opt for trans ONLY tunes from the likes of gearhead...food for thought. You’re correct a certain tranny is def not the same depending on application- differential gearing, torque converter difference come into play, as does the vehicles engine mapping- but not huge differences. Kinda like Deniro in casino “either you were in on it or too dumb to pick it up, either way I have no use for you”

Either cobb DID have “plenty” of experience tuning this 10 speed yet had to wait to tailor it for the raptor (lol) & purposely delayed it to upcharge, or they suck a trans tuning, period. You pick. Either way not great for the consumer.

Unfortunately a lot of raptor owners are not necessarily “Gearhead’s” themselves & at same time typically affluent so come prey to the mod vendors.

Not true.

And yes, trans tuning does make a difference, of course.

Just I magine how my truck feels on COBB TCM at 504whp with only a COBB Front Mount Intercooler and CAI!

There’s more in it too ;)

What exactly about that post “isn’t true”?

I owned an A4 camaro, A4 GTO, A4 Silverado, A6 G8 GT- all were tuned. I wouldn’t have considered a tune on a Any of those vehicles if the tranny was y addressed, already know it’d be a waste of $$$$

Put your $$$ where you mouth is run a trans only tune raptor vs an ecm tune only raptor & see who wins (hint I already know the outcome ;-))

Do it.

We don’t need to argue man. You don’t like COBB and you make it very apparent here on this forum.

1 tune, 2 tunes, 1/2 a tune...COBB TCM is awesome. Pair that with a Custom tune and you have an awesome truck.
