Title says it all. I have an SUV now that I don't want to give up so I figured I would look at something under 30k with 100k miles ish, really hoping for 25k. Am I stupid or is this not a bad idea?

Some trucks I am looking at:

I would rather have a crew cab since I'm having a baby on the way but I guess a supercab would work.

Realistically, am I going to be able to get much off these trucks? These seem somewhat fairly priced, the others I am seeing are just expensive for the mileage, trucks in the 30k range with 150k miles and up, which I think is just downright stupid.

I don't need a Raptor as I just need a truck to haul some lumber here and there for job sites (started career in high end home residential project management) and used to be a fashion photographer. But I want a Raptor lol.

Thoughts?

You should be able to get a high mileage Raptor and don't worry they easily last over 200k. They cheaper you go the more maintenance you will have to put into it when you first get it.

Sell the SUV and get a Gen 2 which will get better mileage. If you have an office and work offsite, you should be able to write off your mileage, over $.50/mile.

I still owe more than trade on my Cayenne so I don't see how that is feasible right now. Not a lot more but enough that it's not worth it and I reallllly love this car.

I am considering trading it in, not till end of year. I'm just putting so much mileage on it.

Do you guys think the Gen 1 prices might start to see a drop once the Gen 3 is out or no?

No. We are entering a period of inflation, might become hyperinflation. The dollar is not what it used to be and everything you will buy will take more dollars. Used cars included. Surely, as a builder you have seen lumber prices recently, unless you are not privy.

The only silver lining, if you do take out a loan on another car, at least your cost is fixed as far as payments go. You may look up in a year and your 25k Raptor may be worth 50k. lol.

here, on frf
we just got a second gen 1 last week. it was $33,500. it has 99k miles, but looks brand new. interior was well kept too. im currently in the denver area but prices seem similiar in other states except california. there are a few members here in your area that can show you what to look for. we bought this from a land rover dealership. when they parked it out front my friend and i spent 30 min looking it over. funny seeing peoples faces as we are lying on the ground under the truck inspecting it. but this one was pretty darn clean. just needs spark plugs, but im doing that soon. if you decide on a truck, make sure its been serviced and theres no rust or damage. some trucks we looked at were cheaper, but had issues so we passed on them. just make sure you inspect it good.
