IWE noise when engaging 4WD

Hi all,

I know, I know, another IWE topic, but I keep getting results regarding IWE grind issues, but not on this one..

My left IWE is making a noise when engaging 4wd. Then it runs fine. No noise at disengagement. It sounds a bit as if there was not enough lubrication between the connecting metal components. It's not too loud at all, but still concerning. Right IWE is quiet.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like the teeth in the IWE are damaged. If they don’t mesh properly on engagement you’ll get a grinding sound as the teeth clash against each other. You would need to disassemble the IWE for inspection and replace the assembly as necessary.
