That is weird because on my 2015 Lariat, I pulled 3 different trailers. My miles only moved when the trailer was “plugged in”. The 7 pin was selected automatically when plugged in but the other two trailers had 4 pins and I had to specifically choose which trailer. If there was no electrical connection between the trailer and the truck, the miles did not move. I was on the farm and had to pull a trailer around. All on property and no public roads. No need to plug it in and not one mile ended up on any trailer I tracked.

I have towed off and on a lot, and the only time it racks up trailer tow miles is when the 7-pin connector is plugged in...even when my small 4-pin trailer loaded with dirt bikes is hooked up and towing, it still doesn't track those miles, even though it sees the out bulb on the trailer 4-pin plug.
