During my last service at the local dealer this small black rubber boot was sitting in my cup holder when The service was complete. I am pretty certain that this was not in there but when I asked the service manager and technician they had no clue. Any ideas?

Yes, I just mounted a new bumper last night, and I can say with certainty that that part is on the plastic grill cover that is removed prior to removing the grill. However, if they didn't have to remove your grill, then it probably didn't come from your truck.

VP1016, I assume you are referring to the plastic grill that attaches to the bumper or are you referring to the main grill “FORD” on the front? Thank you for helping me with this riddle. Either at though they did nothing with my bumper or grill at the time so this is strange.

Sorry for the late reply. It's the grill with the FORD on it. To remove the grill and shutter assembly you first have to remove a plastic panel on top of the assembly. That plastic clip is used there. It may also be used in other areas of the truck as well.
