In this video I show how to install the rear shock guards from SVC Offroad. This kit fully replaces your factory plastic shock guards with a new powder coated aluminum piece. It requires you to either cut the plastic guard OFF OR undo the lower shock bolt so the factory guard can be slid off. I opted for the later.

Foutz makes a similar kit that installs OVER the top of the factory guard so a bit easier of an install though I can see lining up the lower mounting holes to be a bit of a headache. There kit is a few $$ more and only comes in silver (at the time of this post). I opted for the SVC kit because I wanted the black covers and haven't used any SVC kits so figured why not.

My dumb@ss stripped one of the lower guard mounts so I talk through how I fixed that. It turned a 40 minutes project into a 2 hour project (had to go get a tap and die kit but my wife's car was out of gas, then I forgot my wallet at home....a real sh*tshow....)

Enjoy!

For anyone considering these, the Foutz guards are easy to install. After some use I'm sure the black SVC guards will get chipped by rocks and what not, making the color kind of irrelevant. I highly recommend the rear shock skids as well.

I'm not writing this to sway people one way or the other, just to provide additional information.

Not much does these days… but I know a guy who tries to make YouTube videos to help folks! Haha
Haha I installed the SVC intercooler & SVC bump stops, and they both had essentenially no instructions. Left me disappointed when you're spending that much money, while having to cut/modify OEM components.

I even called them with questions about the bump stops and they referred me to the install video, which kind of skimmed over grinding off the factory bump stop pads and rerouting the brake lines.

You mean the video that is of an early generation of bump stops & didn’t actually show them getting installed? I know the one :(

I was trying to get information from them after I bought the stuff, and it didn’t help much.. That’s why I had to make a thread on here about installing them, then had to combine like 20 different videos & threads to finally figure it out. My favorite part of the bump stops is the description “100% Bolt On” I dunno.. I sure was running my grinder, and cutting stuff off of my axle.. Seems like the install was a bit more involved than “bolt on”

I told my brother, while it’s a nice kit we’re going to go with RPG or another for his (I read through their bump stop instructions when I was trying to figure out how to install the SVC ones)

TECHNICALLY everything bolted right on after you cut stuff off... haha

I'd avoid RPG out of principal (they have been documented scamming people on builds). Hannah Race & Design, and Foutz also make bump kits. However I'm not sure how they install.

Haha true! I really appreciate all of the help people gave me on the forum, it wouldn't have been possible without the help. I went overboard with my wire routing and it seemed to turn out pretty good. When it comes to it I think we'll check out FMI they've been very good so far!

My thread on SVC bump install
