Has anyone tried any oil additives in the 3.5 l EcoBoost and heard or made any actual difference in the performance and longevity of the engine

Pricey for sure. Remember the Raptor is just DI, it also has port injection. I'm sure it's good oil though.

Also,
For additives to be truly effective, they need to be of good quality ( there are 40 different types of ZDDP for example) and blended with the base oil at specific temperatures. Also, look for a high VI (Viscosity Index) and try and determine/find out if the base oil is of the highest quality. Sometimes oils are blended with a lot of viscosity improvers to get a good VI score, but viscosity improvers actually wear out of many heat cycles. A good base oil will have good VI from the start and maintain its VI through out of it's lifecycle.

Great point! Keep in mind though that the port/direct injection motors still accumulate more of the soot deposits (compared to a port only motor). The calcium (detergent) balance in a DI oil help tremendously. The same things that control soot in a DI motor also help with Low Speed preignition (LSP). SN+ oil specification is all about this.

I like Schaeffers. I went to an oil demo once. Kinda hard to explain but they have a machine that measures resistance via voltage. The have a bar that you press down on a spinning bearing that sits in a bowl of oil. Schaeffers is the only oil where they could not apply enough pressure to stop the bearing from spinning. Even after removing the bowl, so the bearing just had residue on it, they couldn't stop the bearing from spinning. After watching that demo, I use Schaeffers in everything.
