Back when I was shopping for my Raptor I drove both a Gen 1 and Gen 2. I preferred the Gen 1 to a 2 since it felt more familiar to my 2500 daily.
However I really liked the steps on the Gen 2. A guy local to me was selling his steps for a cheap price so I pulled the trigger. I got the passenger side mounted up and my driver side is still stock.

What does everyone think? I'm split down the middle on this.
On one hand I like how wide they are and how modern they look, but they sit way higher and are a littler longer so they go past the cab a little on the back. Thoughts?

I like them, lets see the frame side where you had to bust out the welder! :favorites13:
Give me until the weekend, these first brackets are super rough. I'm making sure there's no unforeseen issues before I make something nice.

Since you asked... I don't get why you would spend the time or money on stock for stock. The difference is nominal and nothing wrong with the Gen 1 factory step IMO.

Could be because Gen 1 steps are getting old and i've seen lots lose their coating overtime. Gen 2 steps are plentiful and the oldest are at least 3 years newer than the newest gen 1 steps. For me, if the new steps being wider and longer keeps mud out of my door handles and less rock chips on the doors I'm all in.

I prefer the gen 1 style for the function of keeping **** off the side of your truck. The holes in the gen2 allow stuff to spray up and onto the truck. Just my $0.02

I am still getting used to the height of the step. It seems high compared to my other F150’s years past. It’s not an intermediate step if it’s level with the cab floor. Tall guys likely bypass the step because if your’re shorter still need to duck your head.
anyway sorry for sidetrack but the thread triggered this thought.
I think your Gen 2step looks great and kind of a neat mod like upgrading to next Gen wheels. OEM Stock still ! Enjoy

I like them better than gen 1 , gen 2 are wider and have a rougher coating , plus i like to be different. I also got a gen1 tail gate extender on my Gen 2 . Guess i need something from a GEN 3 for both trucks

I'm still ******** around with location, yours look tight to the body like what I'm going for. Have you had any issue of the fender or bed hitting the steps from rattling? I'm pretty tucked tight to both.

I dont mind them. Does the curve in the board behind the front wheel stick out farther than G1 or is it just the shape that makes them look like they do?
