Gen 1 running board covering unpeeling?

I scraped mine on a tree on the passenger side. Removed a good bit of coating. I was going to do all the above with bed liner but just removed them all together. Looked taller. I’m only 5’11 so climbing in wasn’t to bad, my wife on the other hand being only 5’2 didn’t like it. Only thing that really sucks is if you appendix carry, my work gun dug into my junk pretty bad. But I traded it in on a Gen 2 so I’m no help I guess.

Can you just touch up a scrape and not worry about sanding or is it not going to match more than likely the issue
