DUDE! Looks sick! You did a few of the things I would like to do to my SPD downpipe as well. The v-bands would make it SO much nicer to get on and off!

Seriously going to need some sound clips of this

hey thanks gabe! heres a short sound clip from right before i tore the truck down - around 1:15 :

also if anyone has experience with General Tires i'd love to hear it. I am a big fan of continental tire rubber compounds and they own and make General also. Thinking the X3 37" is the next 37" tire I'll try and the terraincontact AT for a 35"

Geoff,

Have you looked into the Milestar Patagonia A/T Pro? We had those on our truck for quite awhile and they had great snow/rain/offroad manners. We never used them as hard as you are probably going to but they are made in the U.S.! Might be worth a look.

I have watched that video before and have always wondered what exhaust that was. I have always wanted to throw the trombone with H-pipe on my truck but have been scared. I have AMS downpipes and Mountune mid section, and KHC turndown. Knowing now what you have makes me want to even more!

Couple of things.

This thread is amazing, lots and lots of leg work done by @full-race geoff

Next i doubt anyone will ever see metal valve covers for the Gen2. The reason is that the way the PCV system is integrated into the valve cover it is actually considered an emissions component by the EPA.
Anyone making them for commercial sale would have to get approval from the EPA and CARB #.

There is a TSB on the 2.7 that the oil pan (plastic POS) for the early version (2015-2017) has been discontinued and to repair you must use the 2018+version (still plastic ), BUT you must also replace the valve covers to the 2018+ version as well. this is because the oil pan is some how part of the PCV system (maybe just because it is "the" crankcase) anyway, it took Ford almost 2 years to get this approved by the EPA. I had a truck in my shop that needed an oil pan, was here 18 months, while this was all hashed out with the government. (trust me we searched and searched for other options).

I only tell the story to show how intertwined all the components are. like the electronic oil pump. Technically it would be a illegal modification to disable it. (I would be one of the first to say the EPA needs a little kick in the nuts).

Wouldn’t installing an Accusump resolve some of the low oil pressure issues in the gen 2s? Honestly curios here as I’m not very mechanically knowledgeable beyond the basics

Excited to report a gen2 & 3 f150 specific intank pump upgrade will be released in a couple weeks - I will share details on that as soon as I get my hands on one. (I don’t want to use a boost a pump if I don’t need to).

Am preparing to get back at it tomorrow afternoon. The old carcass needs the cable ebrake extracted and then we can part ways

Thanks man! The SPD setup is outstanding, I recommend it 100%. This is the first vehicle I’ve owned in 28 years that I didn’t fabricate my own exhaust for - I like the Trombone/HX that much. I will use 3” turndowns on it:

And Anybody willing to fabricate a little, you can cost effectively fit up the oem gen 3 trombone mid pipe (saw a guy doing that on another forum)

like the electronic oil pump. Technically it would be an illegal modification to disable it.
I appreciate the complement, glad others are reading my journey! The 1971 clean air act states we can not tamper with or delete any emissions control devices. Cats, pcv, EGR, turbos, wastegates etc are the typical emissions control devices that need CARB approvals to be sold in California.

I agree the pcv system is an integrated emissions control device in the valve cover.

But I disagree that the oil pump is an emissions control device. By that logic it would also technically illegal to install IWE Deletes, oversized tires, changes to gear ratios and suspension lifts. And they’ve made it clear their objective is not to go after those types of products

An accusump is a bandaid intended to cover up short moments of reduced oil pressure. My personal assumption - it’s unlikely to do what we’re looking for, plus it adds a layer of complexity and introduces a possible point of failure.

The only exterior oiling component Im planning on is an external air to oil cooling circuit that removes the oem heat exchanger

Gabe, thanks for the recommendation I will take a look

Had a highly productive long weekend. Saturday afternoon was the first drive and ‘that moment’ made all the work worthwhile. I instantly knew the chassis and suspension geometry is what I’ve been looking for. With the 4.88 gears the powerband is phenomenal. I can’t wait to really feel things out and get used to it!!!

1744687701511.png

First I Installed our intercooler and cast y pipe (one of my favorite parts we offer)

1744686822373.png

Then I took our existing Gen 1 oil cooler kit with no changes and installed it on the oem raptor IC lower mount + IC fan (pictured below). Our Gen 1 setrab core situates beautifully between the BOV and y pipe:

Issue #1 front diff cover: this is my show stopper right now. the enormous B&M doesn’t fit and it’s touching the steering rack, makes the most annoying vibration ever. NEED to solve this and... Can not find a Dana spicer anywhere!?!? If anybody here has one for sale or knows of one please lmk - Dana said no more until September

@mashtastic I owe you a cold beverage of your choice. You told me this would happen a couple months ago, and I expected the Dana covers to be back in stock by now!! Need a solution

Issue #2: tires are shot. The k03 c rated 37” comes out in 2 weeks. and the 35” continental terrain contact AT for the 2nd set of wheels is my final answer

1744689102049.pngOn Sunday afternoon, took the raptor on its maiden voyage to ride MTB trails in Sedona. Northern arizona is amazing

Awesome!! I want to get my MTB to Sedona some day. What's the rpms at 70-80 with them 4.88 and 37s?

There is an easy way to see if the oil pump is considered a emissions device.

There are two kinds of "codes", circuit codes where a computer detects that a electrical circuit is open or shorted (can be the sensor or actuator itself, like an oxygen sensor heater)

And there are performance codes, where the computer does not recieve the expected response from sensors/actuators when give commands. For example if you have an intake manifold gasket leak, you will get a lean code from the Oxygen sensor. the computer has used all the inputs to make a fuel calculation and the Oxygen sensor sends back a signal "need more fuel", the computer sets a code and turns on the CEL, knowing something isn't right.
Any check check engine light is a fail of emissions, testing.
With that (which i feel the OP knows).

First unplugged the oil pump solenoid connector at the timing cover, drive around for about 10 minutes, shut the truck off for 5 and drive again for 10. You will most definitely have a code in the computer BUT do you have a CEL on?

Next take a solenoid and plug it externally, drive around for a few days (it will take a little more time for the computer to recognize the pump is not doing what it is told to do).

Do you get a oil pump/oil pressure performance codes WITH a CEL??

I interesting note at least of 2020 model year and older (not sure about 21+)Ford vehicles will not turn a check engine light on for grill shutter failure, but Chrysler/General Motor vehicles will.
