I am in the process of buying a bed rack system for my Gen 2 and am likely going with a Front Runner Slimline II mounted to the T-slot rails on my RetraxPro XR tonneau cover. However, the solution recommended by Front Runner includes a 1475x1358mm rack which I'm concerned will look a bit small and slightly too tall:

I'm seeing other owners with similar setups that used a 1475x1560mm rack that seems like it would be more appropriately sized. Also, this setup claims to use the same legs as the FR recommendation but looks shorter in the picture:

Anyone have any thoughts? The first/recommended solution would be about perfect for my roof top tent but it seems like the bigger rack might be more useful and work just fine. FYI, Front Runner claims no warranty if I attach a larger rack than recommended like in the second pic.

I was going to go this route as well. This truck has the lower mounted rack. I have a rollnlock cover which I'd be fine taking off if it doesn't fit.

Check this truck out:

Hey man, nice to see you over here! That's a great looking truck and pretty close to what I want to do with mine. I'm still having trouble finding much information from Front Runner on height options for the Slimline II rack. The other bed rack manufacturers all seem pretty clear on how high their racks sit but it's like FR never considered that anyone would want that info.

Yea I know. Their site is confusing. Thing about this rack shows two feet/legs per side but the raptor rack on their site shows 3 per side and at higher height.

I have to call them about becoming one of their vendors next week, I can ask and find out.

The 1358mm rack will be around 4.5' long leaving about 6" of the bed on either side of the rack. It's the size we sell for the Raptor which should be perfectly fine for your tent. You can also order shorter legs and build a rack a-la-carte if that's the route you want to go to get what you want. The rack for the Raptor comes with 3 pairs of legs. The legs that come with the Raptor rack are 188mm (about 7.4 inches) and then your Slimline II would add 2" leaving you at around 9.4" from the top of the rack to the top of the bed.

I'd be happy to get you an order for whatever height and size rack you want. Just note that these racks are designed with the truck in mind which is why they don't want you getting different sized racks than recommended. Just shoot me a PM and we can get you squared away.

Thanks for the info. My concern is that the officially recommended Slimline for the Raptor seems kind of small to me, even if it's big enough for the tent. FR recommends a larger Slimline for the regular F150 Screw 5.5' bed for some reason. I'm trying to figure out if there's something I'm missing about why this would be?

Awesome, thanks for the response. Looks like you're using the 'standard' Raptor/Retrax package and yours does not look like it sits too high with the RTT installed, so that's reassuring.

Is your RTT longer than most? Can you share which ROAM model you're using?

I have the Vagabond XL it basically comes to the end of the bed. I didn’t want it to hang over like you see. Kept it low on the bed and the length of the bed. Most of the other RTT I looked at were longer.
